the Priority document, if any, must be submitted
within six months.
Filing Patent Application:

A power of
attorney executed in the name of the Applicant duly
notarized and legalized up to the Saudi Arabian
Consulate.( has to be filed with the application).

A Deed of
Assignment executed by the inventor(s) if the
Applicant is not the inventor, assigning the patent
rights to the Applicant, duly notarized and
legalized up to the Saudi Arabian Consulate.

A certified copy
of the Priority document, if Priority is claimed,
which can be submitted within 3 months from filing
date.

Two copies of the
specifications in English and Arabic prepared
strictly in the following order:

The Abstract
(not exceeding one page).

Background of
the invention.

Summary
description of the invention.

Brief
description of the drawings, if any.

Full
description of the invention.

Claims.

Two sets of the
drawings in Arabic and one in English, which must be
submitted at the time of filing.

Filing Design
Application:

A legalized power
of attorney from the applicant up to the Saudi
Consulate.

Legalized deeds of
assignment form the creator(s) to the applicant
(form enclosed).

Name of creator of
the design.

Name of owner of
the design and his address.

Title of design, a
brief description thereof and a photo or a
representation of each side of the design.

Particulars of any
foreign applications.

A certified copy
of the priority document, if it is be claimed.
Filing Copyright Application:
Software:
-
A power of
attorney duly legalized up to a Saudi Arabian
consulate.

Two copies of the
software.
-
A detailed
explanation of the software with specification of
its contents.

The name and
identity of the programmer (a photocopy of his
passport).
-
A declaration that
the program is not quoted, i.e. it is the
programmer’s own invention. If the opposite is
proven , the application will be treated as
cancelled.

A permission from
the Ministry of Information allowing to circulate
the software. (We will issue such permit)
Literary & other works:
-
A power of
attorney duly legalized up to the Saudi Consulate.

Two copies of the
copyright work.
-
A detailed
explanation of the copyright work with a
specification of its contents.

The name and
identity of the author.
-
A declaration that
the work is the author’s own creation. If the
contrary is proven, the application will be
cancelled.

A permit from the
Ministry of information permitting to circulate the
work.

What is the term
of protection of a trademark?
- 10 years, and the registration is renewable for
similar periods of 10 years each.

Can one
application cover more than one class of goods or
services?
- No, a separate application is to be filed for each
class of goods/services.

Are there any
goods or services for which the mark can not be
registered?
- Alcoholic goods in classes 32 and 33 and “retail
and wholesale store services” in classes 35 and 42
are not registered.

claimed under the Paris Convention?
- Yes
