Filing Trademark Application:

  1. A Power of Attorney duly legalized up to the Consulate of the Republic of Yemen.

  2. Sixteen prints of the mark.

  3. The applicant particulars and the list of goods and/or service.

  4. A legalized copy of the Certificate of Incorporation or Extract of the Commercial Register, which must include the name, address, date of incorporation and objectives of the corporation.

Filing Patent Application:

  1. A power of attorney duly legalized up to the Consulate of the Republic of Yemen.

  2. A legalized Deed of Assignment in case the Applicant is not the inventor.

  3. One copy of the English specifications and claims and their Arabic translation.

  4. One set of the drawings relating to the invention, if nay.

  5. An Abstract of the invention of no more than 100 words, with its Arabic translation.

  6. The Priority document for Priority applications

Filing Design Application:
 

  1. A power of attorney executed by the applicant and duly notarized and legalized up to the Yemeni Consulate.

  2. A duly legalized extract from the Commercial Register or a memorandum of articles, if the applicant is a company or corporate body.

  3. Two photos (three dimensions) of the model or design

  4. A duly legalized deed of assignment signed by the inventor, if the applicant is not the inventor.

  5. A certified copy of the priority documents, if priority is to be claimed.

Filing Copyright Application:

The Unified Intellectual Property Law No. 19 for the year 1994 provides for the protection of copyright works. However, the absence of regulations has delayed its implementation.
Our above quoted charges are for filing applications up to registration in normal cases. They do not include any charges for late filing of documents, reporting and responding to official actions. Likewise, it is our firms policy to ask our clients to send all their instructions and inquiries to our Head Office in Amman, Jordan, and we will handle the matter promptly and send our colleagues the necessary instructions in the Arab countries of interest.

  • What is the term of protection of a trademark?
    - 10 years as from the filing date.

  • Does the specification of goods in any class limit the protection to the specified goods.
    - It is limited to the specified goods.

  • Can one application cover more than one class of goods/services?
    - No,

  • May priority be claimed under the Paris Convention?
    - No.

  • Can an application be filed without its complete documents
    - No.

  • Can an assignment be made with or without the goodwill?
    - Yes.

  • Can the trademark application be opposed and what is the opposition period?
    - Yes, within 6 months as from the publication date.

  • Can convention priority be claimed?
    - Yes.

  • Could annuity payments be made before the granting of the patent?
    - No.

  • Can a registration be obtained for pharmaceutical products?
    - No.

  • What is the term of protection of a patent and from which date is it calculated?
    - Fifteen years as from the filing date.

  • Is the patent protection available for software alone?
    - It can be for software .

  • Can a patent application be filed without its complete documents?
    - Yes, it may be submitted within three months maximum.

  • Can the specifications or claims be amended?
    - No.

  • Is working of the invention required to keep protection in force?
    - Not required.

  • Does the Patents Office publish the patent applications in the Official Gazette?
